Well I have had this question roaming around in my head and I've shared it with others and although I have come to some conclusions, these conclusions are different that "reality"
So What is "talking" to a boy all about? that is the question at hand and for those of you who know me will know why I'm so anxious about it....
After some investigating, and historical research I realized that "talking" is as "calling was back in the early 19oos or before...yup, I went that far...well I didn't dig too much....So.....In those days a young woman would accept a "calling" request from one young man, while also accept one from another young man ...so she would be bidding good bye to one "caller" while another would be riding up in his buggy...and she was not considered "loose". This was simply trying to get to know a man enough in conversation to see if he would "qualify" for another "calling" opportunity. I'm sure those young ladies at times got into difficulty...perhaps enjoying conversation with 1 or 2 young men at once...then it was like "Who will I choose?"....Ok so thats what I organized in my head...However when I brought it to the young people I know....they were immediately appalled at the idea of talking to more than 1 boy...that would be a "loose" girl!!....(please note I am speaking of conservative people, with conservative morals)So Instead the way young people have defined "talking" is like this:
A boy likes a girl: her looks, the way she carries herself publicly, her personality, so he approaches to "talk" to her, after having recieved a green light by her parents. If she corresponds, then they are now officially "talking" or getting to know one another. This is an exclusive talking relationship though, according to our young people today you have to talk exclusively to one person to decide if you really like them enough to proceed into a "courting" relationship.....Everyone around them dubbs them as "officially talking"....
and now at the end of this post....I wonder....When did "Puppy Love" begin and when did it transition?.....
