The High Road

King of the Castle

Before you is a high road that can lead you to the grand castle on the mountain. If you achieve your goal of greatness, that place, that lofty castle sits before you.  Where Greatness is marked by high status: financial, social & beautiful. Some will call this the high road.

Those that finally do arrive, or those that stumble across it have found the need to put up more bars where none were before or will definitely hide behind the iron bars already in place.  Why is that? Perhaps because on this high road of great achievements you will bring in uninvited guests or squatters that will take over your beautiful castle. Pride will spray itself on every room of your Castle, and all will know the scent of loftiness. Distrust will lurk in your library & office and anyone who enters will be suspect. Vanity will scream throughout your rooms 'look at me'.  And of course fear will wrap itself tightly around your waist like a tight fitting cumberbun, squeezing you at every move.  Maybe it's not enough? What if it all comes crashing down?  And in it all, where are the welcomed guests of your 'old shack'? The loyal friends, the handy acquaintances and the faithful family

Which is your castle on the hill? money? material gain? social likes? beauty? None are evil, or harmful of themselves, but the heart behind our pursuit is evident in the end.
those who stumbled into one of these castles, or those that gave their all to arrive and are now owners and they know not how to handle this greatness; this path that they chose.

If you happen upon this road or carve a way through it be aware of the iron bars and consider a guard first at door of your heart.
 Proverbs 4:23
Guard your heart with all diligence, for out of it flow the issues of life
