Heavenbound

                                                       Heaven is a Place:

 Pastor recently preached a sermon that was such an eye opener.  He spoke about "the place you're going to" Of course for a moment I wondered, what place are we going to? As he continued I realized he spoke about our eternal destiny; Heaven.

 

Have you ever thought about it? really? I've been a Christian for almost thirty years and in those years only recently has the place of Heaven been a reality, sometimes a yearning in my soul.  But I must confess that even with the hope of heaven I truly can't imagine what it's like.  There are books out there about peoples "personal" experiences of the place. Of those I don't know what to say. When a love one dies we who are still alive here on earth desperately yearn to know that our beloved is in heaven; because at that moment life after death can be a comfort. Through the years I've learned by reading, studying and hearing Gods word that we all will die, then comes our eternal destiny. 

These are my highlights of the sermon:   out of Revelation21: 8-18, 2Tim.3:16-17 and Titus3:8

1. Judgment: According to our choices comes our destiny: Liars, prideful people, sorcerers, idolators...YIKES!....thank God for redemption through the blood of Jesus (1Cor.6:11)

 

Now this highlight.....Where we'll live eternally.....

 

2 Heaven is a place of richness: Ezek. 10:9 The foundations are made of gem stones which all represent the Character of God:  Sapphire-diety (blue)

                                diamond-purity-white

                                amethyst-purple-royalty   

(Is.54:11, 1Peter4:10 grace, Eph.3:10 wisdom)

*Every foundation is permanence.

 

3. The Walls of Heaven: to protect.  There will be no more sickness, brokenness.  The walls will protect us from pain & suffering of this world.

4. The gates of Heaven: Pearly Gates: cutting sin out and covering by the blood

5.  The streets of Heaven: gold streets; the glory of God

6. When your heart is right you'll be confident about where your going. Heaven is a place of righteousness.  Filled with the righteousness of God that is within us.

7.  Heaven is a place of refuge.

8. The things not in heaven: darkness, no secrets

 

Here on this earth I've had wonderful glimpses and personal experiences of these incredible characteristics of God...and yet at times life here can be too much.

 

When my heart has been broken...

When my life is chaotic.....

When my life is surrounded by pain & suffering...

When my body has too much sickness...

When my mind is overloaded.....

 

I will remember that I'm just a sojourner in this land and I'll be home in good time....
