This morning as I prayed, I felt the weight of my bible reading. The old testament prophet Elijah had prayed for fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice, then he asked God for rain after a drought and it came pouring down. Wow! Then, in my new testament reading in James 5:16 it proclaimed that the "The prayer power of a righteous man availeth much" Where did that leave me?

So much to pray for, so many needs, and as I grappled with my prayer time, this little birdie flew right into my glass door window! As if in slow motion it fluttered to the ground. He managed to stand in this position with his neck bent, but he couldn't move! I was gripped with emotion for this poor little bird, how was this bird gonna die right in the middle of my prayer time! So I prayed, and asked Jesus ernestly to heal the little bird and him let him live. Then I stood up to get a closer look at it since it hadn't moved AND I had just prayed a prayer in faith. Inside my living room I sobbed as I saw this bird frozen with is twisted neck, then I touched the glass and his eyes moved! thats all, just his eyes. OMG! the bird was still alive, "Oh dear God let him live" I prayed. I knew I had to help him but I didn't know how, and what if the cat came around. When I went to open the door he suddenly flopped on his little feet, still he couldn't seem to fly away frozen again.

I was getting anxious that the cat would come around and have him for lunch after surviving this crash. So I opened the glass door and grabbed a stick to move it, but as soon as I got closer, he flew away and landed very wobbly on the lattice of our fence. There he precariously hung on for dear life.

And there before my eyes God made so wonderfully clear how important the sparrow is to him and how gracious and attentive he is to our prayer and petitions.
