Busy. Too Busy. Squished.

I'm busy like everyone else.
Busy with chores
Busy with business
Busy with errands
Busy with ministry
Busy with projects

I've got relationships I cherish through all my busy-ness
My God waits to meet me in the morning.
My husband patiently releases me to do something else, again.
My children are growing up one by one, getting too busy themselves.
My grandchildren look for Ama in their sweet childhood years.
My sister and I cling to our sisterhood when time and circumstance takes everything else.
My friends want me to check my calendar.
My church exposes its constant need.

Can I be too busy to carve out time to:
Rejoice in the quiet peaceful morning?
Enjoy my morning devotions?
Notice the details that embellish my life?
Be grateful for all my blessings?
Relish relationships and truly love my loves?

Last week I thought that because I have a pattern of habits, I could change things around and make a little extra work, work for me.

I said to myself:
It's just for a week.
I can make it all happen.
I need the extra money.
How bad can it be?

Last week ran over me and I have lived to tell about it again.

It all started when the lady said "can you add just two more items?
"You'll get paid of course".  With the barely visible tiny red flag quickly passing by my view, I
didn't skip a beat when I said "Well if you don't mind, this for that, sure, I'll do it" And the Chaos took over, not slowly but sat on top of me until I almost couldn't breath.  I came up for air when I finally remembered to ask God for help. And like the old time "Lucha Libre" movies; those spanish channel movies that glorify wrestling. Jesus stepped into that ring and got me out of there
alive.....A little squished and a lot humbled.

Courage

In his book The Courage To Create, Rollo May claimed that there are four types of courage:

Physical- in which the body perseveres despite the very difficult and some times painful circumstances.
Moral- which will demand a person to stand up to and even against the social injustices of their day at the risk of tainting their status.
Social-where a soul is willing to reveal oneself counting intimate relationships worthy.
Creative-when a mind crosses the lines of the 'norm' and embraces new ideas or revives old ones

As I pondered these definitions of courage I was able to discover ordinary people within my circles that have gone beyond fear and defied death at times to experience the riches that God would have for their lifetime.

What kind of courage do you practice?
