Spirit of the Python
Did you know that the enemy of our soul is depicted as a serpent? Since the very beginning trying to destroy the very breath of God that resides within us. This old snake has experience and longevity as he deals with humanity. He beguiles us with deception; twisting Gods word, and with distraction; making the world beautiful and appealing to the eye. Finally He will slowly confuse us with dilusion; believing foolish doctrines and fairytales. This sneaky snake will be patient enough to wait for us to walk into his traps, He'll be cunning enough to implement our own short comings as tools against us and finally destructive enough to squeeze any sense and all conviction right out of our existence. In the end when were trying to recognize traces of him it's too hard to pin him down and identify him as the cause of our slow death. And by the time we walk away from the will of God and his rest the python has coiled us into his hold and is subtly squeezing life out of us.
BUT! only by the grace of God can we escape his rubbery hold. In his mercy God will provide a way of escape. As we guard our heart and surrender all of us to God, we will be able to train our minds to recognize his deceptive lies. Good choices are another great tool God presented to us from the beginning of time. If and when we choose to guard our hears, watch our tongues and practice Gods commands we will be able to escape the spirit of the python and destroy it in our lives.
Search your heart: Is there a python squeezing the life right out of you and you don't even know it? When God first saved you, you used to love his word and his ways so much so that we practiced them! Today are you asthmatically living out your salvation? struggling and complaining about the difficult Christian life you have.
