July 7, 1984 - A Day To Remember

Marked forever in my heart
July 7, 1984 a glorious day
Until that day, events pointed me north
to that pivotal day

My birth day marked me eight among my siblings.
1984 was light years away.
Graduation marked my future, and
University was the road to destiny

College had deadlines and prerequisites
Dorm life was filled with homework and parties
Social life was lonely days and dark silent nights.
1984 sat fresh and new right at the foot of my bed.

School days dragged on and tarnished the new
Classes and midterms followed by finals
Summer time called. I dragged myself home
1984 was halfway in history

One look in the mirror, there in my eyes
The void went down to my heart
Surrender! it cried, but my mind resisted
It was the road least taken, 1984 hung in the air

A new way I went by one simple choice
Choices marked by The Book
Mid-year marked a new year again
1984 my changed life began.

Filled with events of an ordinary life
My wedding day, til death due us part.
My mommy day, lil fingers grabbed my heart
July 7, 1984 more glorious by far.
